J'ai toujours apprécié les jeux vidéos de stratégie et assimilés, entre Dune 2, Warcraft 2 (et sa musique splendide en synthèse FM), [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] (Battle Isle), Heroes of Might and Magic, Battle of Wesnoth il y a de quoi faire...

Je préfère d'ailleurs les jeux au tour par tour plutôt qu'en temps réel (RTS), même si j'ai également joué à Command & Conquer il y a fort longtemps. J'ai essayé d'y rejouer il y a quelques semaines avec [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] (une version open source), et j'ai trouvé ça assez difficile. Il y a également Warzone 2100, moderne et en 3D (et libre et gratuit)

En dehors de ces jeux de stratégie assez connus, j'avais envie de revenir à des jeux plus proches des wargames sur table, et j'ai découvert le moteur open source [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]. Je n'ai pas exploré plus que ça, mais je vais m'y pencher plus sérieusement. On peut y jouer contre l'ordinateur, ou contre les joueurs en ligne.

J'avais également joué à Warhammer 40k en version allégée avec des amis au collège, et l'année dernière j'ai eu l'occasion de jouer à Star Wars Legion sur table, dans une boutique de jeux, et j'ai bien apprécié l'expérience, mais je ne sais pas si je voudrais me lancer dans cette activité de loisir, qui est à la fois chronophage, onéreuse et qui demande une certaine place pour s'exprimer, du fait des nombreuses figurines à acquérir et stocker.

D'autre part, un jeu comme [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] me fait un peu de l’œil, ça semble plus simple qu'un wargame "pur et dur", tout en en comportant une part des mécanismes (et en plus il y a des hexagones).

Mais revenons aux jeux sur PC. J'ai trouvé quelques liste de jeux qu'il peut être intéressant de compulser :

De ce qu'il ressort de quantité d'avis, Panzer General sous DOS est une référence, et je vois qu'il existe également Fantasy General dans un monde heroic fantasy...

I prefer turn-based games to real-time games (RTS), although I also played Command & Conquer a long time ago. There's also Warzone 2100, modern and in 3D (and free and open source).

Apart from these fairly well-known strategy games, I wanted to get back to games that were closer to tabletop wargames, and I discovered the [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] open source engine. I haven't explored it further, but I'm going to look into it more seriously. You can play against the computer, or against online players.

I also played Warhammer 40k in a light version with friends in college, and last year I had the opportunity to play Star Wars Legion on a tabletop in a game store, and I enjoyed the experience, but I don't know if I'd like to take up this leisure activity, which is both time-consuming and expensive, and requires a certain amount of space to express oneself, due to the many miniatures that need to be acquired and stored.

On the other hand, I'm interested in a game like [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien], which seems simpler than a "pure and simple" wargame, while incorporating some of the mechanics (plus there are hexagons).

From what I can gather from the many reviews, Panzer General on DOS is a reference, and I see that there's also Fantasy General in a heroic fantasy world...

Moi c'est AGE OF EMPIRES 2 auquel je suis accro, j'y ai énormément joué ces 20 dernières années, bien que ce ne soit pas au tour au tour, et bien qu'en réalité le jeu soit très limité en terme de gameplay et de variations possibles dans les parties qu'on joue...

J'ai testé ALPHA CENTAURI à une époque, et j'y ai pas mal joué mais je me suis rendu compte que je ne comprenais pas grand chose à ce qui se passait ni à comment ne pas perdre lamentablement à tous les coups. Le jeu est très beau.

For me, it's AGE OF EMPIRES 2 that I'm addicted to, I've played it a lot over the last 20 years, even though it's not turn-based, and even though in reality the game is very limited in terms of gameplay and possible variations in the games you play...

I tested ALPHA CENTAURI at one time, and played it quite a bit, but found that I didn't really understand what was going on or how not to lose miserably every time. The game is very beautiful.

Battle Isle 1 & 2 ! Quelle claque, j'y jouais en multi écran-splitté avec mon frère C'était trop bien !!
Enfin, on a beaucoup plus joué à Warcraft 1 & 2, ou C&C. Tous ces gros classiques !! Dune 2, Total Annihilation...

Je joue toujours à Civilization (sur le VI), mais côté wargame pur et dur, même si j'aime bien, j'ai du mal à trouver quelque chose qui m'accroche très longtemps. Les Company of Heroes sont cools. J'ai bien aimé aussi quelques RTS sur la WW2 qui vont jusqu'à gérer finement la différence de blindage des chars suivant l'angle d'attaque. J'en ai fait plusieurs dans le genre, dont Sudden Strike 4.

Je réinstalle régulièrement Panzer Corps, qui a bien vieilli (je trouve), et qui constitue une bonne suite à Panzer Generals. Il y a aussi un Panzer Corps 2 mais j'attends de gros soldes :p

Tout de même, je me dois de mentionner à la fin la série des WARGAME d'Eugen Systems, avec notamment Wargame Red Dragon, le dernier (qui ajoute la marine). Ces jeux sont des bijoux. C'est vraiment impressionnant à tous points de vue.

PS : dans un genre très différent, Frozen Synapse c'est le top !! Du tour par tour simultané ! Je suis toujours chaud pour y jouer si les serveurs tournent encore

@feldo oui, Battle Isle est un jeu auquel j'ai le plus joué. Si tu as l'occasion de tester History Lines, c'est dans la même veine mais avec une ambiance différente (WWI de mémoire). Les autres titres que tu cites je ne sais pas si ça pourrait tourner sur mon PC, mais ils ont l'air bien réalisé, surtout Panzer Corps et Wargame Red Dragon qui donne l'impression de survoler les terrains. Après peut-être que ça serait trop complexe pour mes aspirations actuelles

You can find a lot for free on Itch.io or abandonedware websites - or for a few bucks on Steam or GOG.

I don't own a proper computer set up but i do have a decent laptop i bought a year ago i think i will give steam a try

It's not on sale right now, but for old PCs I would tend to go Panzer Corps (turn based):

For a RTS working on old computers, I guess Warzone 2100 would be a good choice. Already mentionned above, and totally free!

Oh, that reminds me of Battle for Wesnoth, another free nice turn based medfan wargame.
